Dear Manning family and friends:
I am very saddened by Jerry's passing and want to extend my sincere sympathy to those that knew and loved him. Although my time with Jerry was comparatively short, he left a lasting impression on me and will always be remembered as one of my boys. Though I haven't actually seen him in over 40 years, I can still remember coaching him in football. He was a hard worker and had as good of an attitude as any kid I ever coached. Jerry was ready to go no matter what was asked of him. What I remember most was trying him out as a place kicker. We were just fooling around one day after practice and we started to try drop-kicking. Jerry got the knack of it real quickly and, following one of our rare touchdowns that year, I gave him the chance to try it in a real game. Straight through the uprights he sent it and became, perhaps, the last HS player in Oklahoma to execute an extra point drop-kick.
I wanted to come for the services but my schedule wouldn't allow it. Jerry was one of the 'good guys' for whom I had a great deal of respect and he is surely missed.
We are so sad to hear of Jerry's passing.
All of us have great memories of Jerry at the 4th of July celebrations ~shooting off the fireworks in front of Grandpa's house, bottle rockets on the farm ~ and of the many holiday celebrations and Manning family gatherings. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone there ~ keeping you close in our hearts in this time of loss.
Love from Aunt Pat, Patty Jo, DeAnne and Mike

Aunt Pat sent us the sad news of Jerry's untimely death.
It's been a long, long time since we were young cousins visiting Grandpa Manning and Grandma Annis in Jet, and coming out to the farm.
We're sorry we never had the chance to know Jerry as an adult.
Best wishes to you all.
Karen and David Manning
