I'd like to say goodbye to an old friend I grew up with in Liberal. He was the best cop I ever met. I'll miss you, old bud. RIP Ryland Arthurs. Amen, brother.

I left Oklahoma in 1992, so I never knew Ryland as a Sheriff. I am sure that was my loss, but even so, I am also sure he was a dilligent Sheriff as he was all the time I was blessed by knowing him. My experience with Ryland was at the Lamont Gas Plant which I managed for several years. Ryland's greatest strength was his sense of humor. He always turned some miniscule thing into the funniest item of the day. Next day, new thing. Kept everyone in a good frame of mind and seemed to help everyone he came in contact with. Ryland will be missed, but he did impact many others throughout his life, including mine.
