Lois Talbott

Lois was born September 8, 1911 to John and Sarah Schupbach in Alfalfa County, Oklahoma and passed away on Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Kiowa Hospital District Manor.  She graduated from Burlington High School, Burlington, Oklahoma, with top honors, and Southwest Osteopathic Hospital Nursing School in Wichita, Kansas with high honors where she earned her registered nurse degree.  

After graduating from nursing school she married R.C. “Bob’ Talbott on October 20, 1932 in Wichita, Kansas.  They lived in Wichita then moved to California where their first son was born.  They moved to Kiowa and built a house and Bob farmed.  Lois worked as an RN at the Hardtner Hospital and the Kiowa District Hospital.  She was always professional and efficient and enjoyed taking care of the patients.  One of her hobbies was gardening.  She had a small greenhouse which she put to good use raising plants and flowers.  She also enjoyed reading and read many books from the library.  

Knitting was another hobby.  She loved to knit blankets to give to family and friends.  Due to failing health Lois moved to the Kiowa Manor September 22, 2006.  She played bingo and enjoyed the gospel singing as long as she was able to participate.  She was a lifelong member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; John and Sarah Schupbach; husband, R.C. “Bob” Talbott; son, James B. Talbott and an infant son; brothers and sisters, Fred Schupbach, Ann Hart, Elizabeth Horning, Laurence Schupbach, Edwin Schupbach, Reuben Schupbach, Harry Schupbach, Sylvia Lewis and an infant brother.

She is survived by one son; Bob Talbott and wife, Sonia of Arlington, Texas; daughter-in-law, Marla Talbott of Kiowa, Kansas; three sisters, Marie Alder, Opal Smith, Joan Lewis; five grandchildren, Fred Talbott, Troy Talbott, John Talbott, Jamie Lamb, James D. Talbott; three step-grandchildren, Luis Ameris, Jorge Ameris, Claudia Ameris; four great grandchildren, Jessica VanHermert, Cody Lamb, Reno Talbott, Jordan Talbott; one great-great grandchild, Gabriel VanHemert many nieces and nephews.
